I enjoy teaching. I like it because it makes me better at what I do; and, I get to watch my students grow into good, feeling and caring people. "Good music comes from good people" I always say. I believe I'm a good teacher, too. I really care about my students' well-being; and, I'm interested in what they play and why. I hear so many horror stories of how people are turned off from music by their teachers! A lot of times I wonder how a teacher could make music boring; then again, I've seen people ruin everything else - so, why not music?
The reason I'm putting this together is because sometimes things lock into place when I am teaching a student - sometimes it's an analogy - sometimes it's a point of view - or an angle that makes something click for a student. There are as many different ways of looking at and listening to and perceiving music as there are people!
I'm putting up some of my teachings so musicians and students can stop by and check out some different points of view. Some of the things I'm going to put up are things my teachers have told me. I have learned from David Cullen, Jay Umble and Ralph Wengert. I've been in some REALLY good hands. Oh, I paid attention, too!
I'm organizing this as I go. There is a lot of restructuring that needs to take place. I will get to it as I can.
For now, please see the sub-menus to the left for navigation purposes. Thanks!
